Backgrounder: September 11, 2001 was the catalyst for recognizing the extreme importance of the remarkable men and women who serve in emergency response units everywhere, who bravely and unselfishly put their own lives in harms way to protect us all. The Release of Souls sculpture exhibit and non-profit Concert allows us to thank them for their unfailing dedication and courage.

The Release of Souls Concert provides a platform for the joining together of Public Safety Honor Guards, Color Guards, Public Safety Personnel, Aviation Pilots, Military bands, Pipes and Drums, Emergency Services musicians and the Canadian Miles Black Band in the universal language of music. The Miles Black Band is comprised of, Miles Black, Edward Henderson, Fiona Blackburn, Glenda Rae, Tony Chamberlist, Brett Wade and Rene Worst. It is their uniquely original music and live performance supported by military bands, which makes the Release of Souls Concert the sought after specialty that it has become. A world class September 11, tribute. The initial concerts have been a tremendous success with many politicians and dignitaries in attendance, including The Consul General of the United States of America, Mr. Luis Areagga.

The 18ft high by 16ft square Release of Souls interactive sculpture, which is the magnificent centerpiece for this remarkable event, is a gift of healing from the Canadian people to the American people. Photographs and an 8 minute documentary may be viewed on Media page www.releaseofsouls.org

This meaningful tribute will be performed at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium 03 September 2004 and mark the beginning of the North American tour, with the finale in New York City 11 September 2006.

The San Diego Concert and Ceremony will be held in the Spreckles Organ Pavilion in Balboa Park, site of the 1935-1936 California Pacific Exposition on the third anniversary, September 11th 2004. And a plaque remembering The Port Authority Police Department’s K-9 Explosives Detection Dog, Sirius will be added. Not only will the civilian and heroes that lost their lost their lives on 9-11 be remembered, but the people that survived, as well as the public safety personnel and military that serve today. Flags from 82 countries that lost citizens will be carried into the ceremony by personnel that went to Ground Zero during the recovery. Public Safety Personnel and one working K-9 will be on stage to honor the personnel that made the ultimate sacrifice on 9-11 in New York. We will also honor the Airline Pilots and Flight Crew Members as well as Military Personnel that were lost.

Doves will be set free, Fire Bells will ring, Bag Pipes will drone, two beams of light will shine into the heavens, and the wonderful sound of music will echo into the night.
